【Internship Site Introduction】Wu-wei River Cultural and Educational Association (Yilan County, Taiwan)
The Wu-wei River area is characterized by expansive flatlands and a gently curved coastal bay,
fostering a unique settlement where agricultural and fishing communities coexist.
In earlier times,
local residents made effective use of indigenous natural resources
and maintained a close interdependent relationship with the surrounding environment.
The Wu-wei River Cultural and Educational Association is dedicated to the conservation of the local waterbird protected area.
By integrating community culture, habitat restoration, and experiential learning,
the Association has transformed the community into a model of an “Ecological Community Museum,”
guiding the public to experience the three dimensions of sustainability—ecology, production, and daily living—through environmental education.
In the field of environmental education,
the Association has received significant recognition,
including being awarded the Outstanding Water Environment Patrol Team distinction in Yilan County for three consecutive years.
It has also been ranked among the top two performers
in the Community Industry Category of the Ministry of Education’s Youth Summer Community Workplace Experience Program
on three separate occasions.
